if you dispute i.e. ask for validation on a debt and they do not provide it and then pull an inquiry then they broke the fdcpa. they cannot do any collection activity until they validate and an inquiry is considered collection activity. I know a great attorney in your state who loves to sue these scum on contingency. I suggest you call him up.
