State takes precedence in garnishment laws. The only other thing that they can do to you if they cannot garnish is sieze your checking account and screw up your checking account if your name is the primary one.

Before they do that, they need to get a judgment first. Show up at court if you are summoned. Get your husband listed as primary on the checking account (first party) and you as secondary if you already don't have it done. Depending on the way your home is deeded, tenancy in entirety, they might not be able to touch your home and check the exemptions status for your stuff. Here is a list of what creditors generally can't touch in bankruptcy. I believe the same thing applies in credit siezing situations as well.
