My husband had a bankruptcy several years ago. My credit is very good. I sold my home last Nov. 2002, and we made a temporary move quite a distance away as we did not know where we wanted to purchase our new home. We were not able to change our address to the temporary address because the post office said we were not permanent residents, and suggested we continue to receive our mail in our old town. We had our mail delivered to my daughter's home, put the change of address in to the post office and the credit card companies. Because of the distanace (1 1/2 hours away from our temporary residence) we were receiving our mail 1-2 weeks late. By the time we received our statements, my husbands credit card due date was withing 2-3 days of being due. We made the payments on-line, but on two occassions the payment was posted the day after the due date. We explained this, but to no avail. When we bought our new home, we again put in a change of address both at the post office and the credit card company. Again we had problems with his statement coming late (we both have a Capitol One card - his due date was the 20th, mine the 27th). Again, his payment was late one day X 2.
We would like this addressed on our credit report, as we will be needing a home equity line of credit to prepare for my daughter's wedding. How can we do this? Please advise us, as we are so upset with this.
