SERIOUS HELP!!! Did I restart the SOL Clock

There's a Judgment against me, it's also on my CR, my savings has been granted to debt collectors and I am ready to explode. My life savings is all gone and these greedy bloodsuckers are still after me for more money, they called asking for the interest due on the debt. Being in such a confused stage and not knowing what to do, I sent them a check of $50.00. Then I was told that the SOL had run BEFORE they garnished my savings account. I went to see an atty who suggected I file Bankruptcy to avoid the bloodsuckers from getting anymore money from me I told this atty that the SOL had run and I want him to sue to get my money back, he said, it's too late b/c I started the SOL clock when I made that payment to them. I told him never mind about the Bankruptcy, I want to look into this further.
My question is, since there's a judgment already filed against me and I made that payment after my savings account was garnished, isn't there someway I could fight this since the SOL had run before the Judgment and the garnishment?
