Credit question

Hey, guys... I've really enjoyed reading this forun and alot of it has put me at ease (a JBC concern) but I had a few questions about my credit history.

I'm originally from Texas, but in late '95 I moved to Alaska for a contract job for one year. Well, that was a bad move... anyways, came back to Texas in late '96 and had a WHOLE bunch of credit bills, etc. (mostly thanks to a ex.) While back in Texas I was in a MVA and spent a few months in hospital... (i.e. - no job, no money, can't pay bills) At this point I was declared disabled and recieved SSI for about 3 years. Well, I've half-a$$ed gotten things together, gone back to school, and have tried to rebuild my life. My question would be concerning these past debts I have. I don't deny them... I know I have debts... most of them are older than seven years or reaching that point very soon. Most all of them were turned over to CAs. The biggest one was about 20K for a voluntary repo. Most are cc's that the ex ran up and didn't pay, but she was authorized to make charges, so I'm stuck with them. Anyways, I'm rambling... can the CAs report items because I haven't paid them? (the CA) If a CA buys my old debt and starts its collection process, does my SOL start all over again? I haven't paid the CAs anything and have barely corresponded with them. I'm not looking for an "out" and don't want to deny anything, but what can I do about my credit? Can I forget about the old debts? Do I need to win the lotto?

Thanks for your time,
JAM
