Another thing...

The creditors will probably know that you left the states. I visit a collection board and one of the collectors was asking advice on how to pursue this debtor who moved to Japan.

They knew his current address from his social security number and his credit bureau header. They also knew where they worked but the collectors were discussing different ways in which to pursue him.

One of the collectors merely advised to wait until he returned stateside. They regularly review your credit report and your address header information is in your credit profile section.

Why Chat is right. Opt out. After you opt out, wait 30 days and dispute old addresses.

Don't underestimate them. If the debt is big enough, they don't forget about you.
