It gets them off your credit report header so a person cannot use them against you.

Some CAs will try and get a judgment behind your back using old addresses. They serve you at old addresses, you have no idea what's going on so you don't show up for court. They get a default judgment. They will then sometimes wait a bit until you can't appeal it and then bam, they sieze your checking account, garnish your wages, etc.

You can say the addresses are a brother or sister, or you can ask that these old addresses be removed as you are concerned about identity fraud.
