MIL being sued by RMA

Hi,my MIL received a summons from RMA Risk Management.
It does not state who the original creditor is.She is in her 70's and can't remember what it could be.(she lives in MO.)
She called the 800 number but they could not tell her anything.It says that she owes $9400 and if they get a judgement $15,000.Should RMA validate this debt?
She doesn't even know if it is past the SOL.Her court date is November 4th.What should her defense be when she goes to court?It is hard for us to help ,we live in a different state.Thanks for any advice!!!
