I think many CAs don't listen because they forget that we are customers and consumers. We never stopped being that. They think it is ok to abuse us, lie to us and treat us badly. Then they wonder why people don't want to pay them.

What you say is true for nearly all the debtors/consumers. If they had the money to pay it in entirety, they would not be in collections. Many in the collections field forget that.

I have also noticed that some on here take it personally when a consumer offers a small amount because that is all they can afford to take it. They forget that the debtor has what they want. They can make a choice. Work with the consumer and accept what they can pay or don't make anything on the account, take the consumer to court and risk getting absolutely nothing. If a consumer does not have it, they won't have it even with an impending lawsuit against them.

I think that these professionals have lost sight of common sense in the collections business. Not listening will not bring the money closer to you. Screaming insults and invective will not make the consumer eager to pay you.
