Attention LLC....How can they do this??

Last evening I received a phone call from Attention LLC demanding payment on a MasterCard, the original account was last paid on 07/01. I had a copy of my CR in front of me and was trying to find the account, because it didn't even sound familiar and finally I found the debt which was listed the CR by some other CA and was listed as a charge off. My original balance was only $300 and is now $943. If the original debt had to be charged off in a certain time period, how long can they charge me late and over the limit fees?
I explained to this lady (and this was the first time I heard from someone) that I am ill and not working right now and she proceeds with wanting to know how I maintain without an income. Can they ask these things?
Lastly, I told her that I would call when I was able to make a payment arrangement and she said that someone will still be calling me. Sure enough they did, the very next evening. What part of no income do these people not get and how do I stop the phone calls? Thanks for any advice!!!
