I'd recommend you dont take their phone calls at all. They will only insult and upset you. Screen your calls thru Caller ID or if you answer and find it's them tell them you'll only deal with them in writing thru the mail. I've learned (thru this site) that is your right.
Anytime i've ever had to deal with a collection agency they do everything they can to insult you and make you feel badly about your unpaid bills.
If you know you can't pay them right now then there's no reason to talk to them about it.
Either they will go away (most likely) or they will try to get a judgement against you. Which wont do much good if you have no money anyway.
