Hi Why Chat & Airics In one of my old law suits here in Oh it seemed to me that the judgement lein is an action that the plaintiff takes after wining a judgement. In my old case the plaintff won in court and was given a judgement against me, then the attorney filed additional paperwork to perfect that judgement into a judgement lein, even though after being awarded the judgement we worked up a payment plan. As I understood it he, the plaintiffs attorney could have just left it at a judgement status, but went ahead and filed additional paperwork to turn that judgement into a judgement lein. It did not have anythign to do with the sheriff. It just gave them a lein status which if needed they could have used to take additional action forclosure etc if I did not keep my payment agreement with them. Yes generally Judgement Leins in Ohio run out in 5 years if they are not renewed, which is easily done if they remember. But I think airics had specific information about a 2 year period which had to do with personal residence forclosure and period of time of 2 years to collect on lein resulting from forclosure on personal residence. Just some info from personal experience here in Ohio. Hope it helps somehow. Good luck Airics!
