My car loan was in a charge off status for only two weeks. I sucessfully caught up most of the arrears and renegotiated the loan (received this in writing) with the OC for less monthly payments, thus extending the loan.

However, I was told that they will continue to report that I am late/in default every month until paid in full.

Is this legal (NY State)?
