Swindled?

I recently paid off debts with CAs for Sears and Providian. I have one more account with BofA that is also with a CA. I was not aware of my legal rights before I paid off the first two accounts. Now I'm wondering if I will get credit for actually paying off these debts or was it all in vain. The BofA is debt is 5 years old and I would like to pay it off but not through the CA. Is it still possible to deal with BofA to pay off the debt and will it show as paid on my CR? By the way I live in SC if it makes any differnce in the SOL.
