Partial correction. If his name is on the title to the car, he can force you to sell it since he is also part owner. If his name is on that title, he does have rights. If his name is not on the title, then he is out of luck and your paying late will hurt his credit. They are also probably calling him and they will continue to call him about this matter.

Can you trade in the car and get a car that is not as expensive?
