what is a tax lien? What can happen?

I live in Kansas and my husband and I have a tax lien (tax warrant) against us for last years income tax. What can they do to us? the only thing we own is a house and we have a loan on it that has like 28 years left. It is only for around 600 dollars. I was just wondering what exactly they can do with a tax lien.
