I have 2 erroneous collection accounts listed on my credit report. I contested both and both Experian & Trans Union removed them. However, Equifax did not. They sent me a letter saying that they were able to prove that they were correct. I then sent a letter to the collection agencies, asking them to verify the debt citing the appropiate Fair Credit law. One agency did not respond, while the other sent a history report print out. Through my research, I believed that this was grounds to have them both immediately removed from my credit report. So, I sent Equifax copies of all correspondence and asked them again to please remove the entries or face a lawsuit. They again sent me a letter saying that they were able to verify the debt. I am at a loss here and do not know what to do. I have been unable to obtain credit because of these entries. I would appreciate any advice or direction.
