Letter from JBC for bad check's (9years)!

Hi every one
Recently I received a letter from JBC& Associates asking me to pay old debt's for bad check (or I face a civil action for 3 times of the amount of each checks) I written them while I was in Calif, Now I'm reside in Fl.The Interesting things those debt's were never reported or shown in my 3 major credit bureau or may be reported in different collection agency, and the last activity was 5/94.
My question is: Am I protected by SOL IN FL? And shall I answer them back in certified letter? and what should I mention in that letter to JBC? Your help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
