Want to verify credit clean up

In trying to obtain a mortgage, I was told by my realtor who had recently attended a credit cleaning seminar that you can go online purchase from all three of the credit bureaus your credit report and mark all items you do not want on there as 'Not Me'. he said they then have 48 hours in which to validate and if unable to do so, it will come off of your credit report. All well and good - but that they have 30 days to repost if it is going to happen. Does anyone know anything about this? The pro/cons? The feasibility? I have several chargeoff from 1996-1998 from an ex that are on my credit and I would LOVE to be able to make them go away. Anyone's experience or knowledge on this front would be greatly appreciated.
