Negative showings on credit report

I have a collection that shows up on my credit report, from cingular, that I was trying to despute. I ended up paying it off. As a result, my fleet visa card raised my interest rate because of this showing up on my account. I want to have this removed from my credit reports, who do I despute this too. I read the posting on when to do it, right before thanksgiving, do I mail it to the credit reporting companies, on plain paper, what is there address?
