I have received a summons concerning a card I shared with my exhusband. The account was opened in NC in 1990. The divorce was in KY where the courts gave him this debt to pay. I received responsibility of other debts and paid them off as agreed. Sometime around 1999 I started getting phone calls from a collection agency about this debt. I gave them my correct last name since it was different. I lived in Indiana at the time. I offered to start making payments again, but they insisted on a large sum (at least $2000)and refused to restart monthly payments. I have lived in Missouri for over a year. I received a summons from platinum financila services corp as assignee of palisades acquistition I LLC as assignee of first card. The summons has my former name and previous address. It was forwarded to me and I signed for it.
Which state's SOL applies to my situation?
Where do I go from here? I would be willing to make payments, but do not have money available nor assets.
