Can't get a collection lawyer to give me my acct. balance

I had a credit card acct. with Chase Manhattan Bank, which I have paying on through a credit counselor's for some time. The account was turned over to a lawyer in Houston, TX. Everytime I call to get my balance, they just send me to voice mail and never call me back. How can I get the correct balance.
