It still sounds as if you have a letter from W&A showing a zero balance. I would proceed as if that is exactly what happened. Do not make anymore payments to them. From this point forward, do not talk to them on the phone. Only correspond by mail and only then if needed. Make sure you hang onto your copy of that zero balance letter. You can call MBNA and ask for the consumer research department and they can tell you if your account was sold or assigned to W&A. I believe you should proceed with, sending a copy of the letter to all CRA's posting anything negative about this account. Remember to ask them to send you a copy of your updated report.
