It is a form letter,it refers to a 1099C for forgiven debt.

This ONLY is used if you "settle" for less than the amount owed with the OC, if the forgiven balance is more than $600. they are recquired to issue you a 1099C,as it is considered income.

If this is a paid account, why are you getting letters from the CA?? Send them a cease and desist,dispute, validation letter.

"Overshadowing" is something else.
