See ripoffreport.com, many "companies" are doing this to take money from desperate people. The names and terms change periodically, but the result is always the same: $299.00 gone and no credit card. The general rule I follow is that anything sold by unsolicited phone calls will be a rip-off.

Good payments on a secured card still help your rating a lot. Check your FICO score, if it is in the 600's you should qualify for some fairly good unsecured cards. If not, there are secured cards that report as if they were unsecured. Find one of these and get it if the fees are low. Having two secured cards should be better than one, more than that may be pointless. And keep working on getting the bad reports deleted.
