It doesn't sound to me as if the second letter was threatening in any way, just asking you to settle the account voluntarily. No violation of FDCPA there that I see. The letter would have to create a sense of urgency to pay this debt, before it would violate the 30 day validation time period.

You are correct in that Judges are sympathetic towards debtors who are trying to make payments and the creditor in turn files a lawsuit.

As to wheather or not to aggressively go after these CA's, it sounds as if you don't necessarily care if they come after you or not. If that is your position, then hold on tight and send them the letter immediately.
