Hi Moonshadow, I think the phone call is a scare tactic - intimidation tactic....and it's working isn't it?! To make yourself feel better, send the demand for validation CRRR tomorrow if you can.....and that way they will not attempt to collect until they can give you validation...(or if they do attempt, they'll be in violation....and you'd have ammo if they decide to try to get a judgement). This will buy you more time anyway....to read these boards..and feel more at ease. I'm not POSITIVE that they can't try to serve a summons during the period after you request that, but it seems to me that would be proceeding with collection activity.

But even if what you think is the worse scenario....court?? Even that buys you more time to get your "ducks in a row"....and is contestable, fightable.....so don't make it bigger than it is....you will make yourself sick, and it's not worth it! It's like going in for a shot....building dread upon dread...and finding out you didn't even feel it!!! Go to Whychat's site and find the letters there or email that man sbostwick, and you can start protecting yourself. Also, just this month I was afraid of being sued too, got that same letter from a lawyer....and about a week after I received a the letter, their office called me with a "grave,demanding message ...insisting that I call and settle this business with them" I didn't answer, and I haven't gotten any more calls....(but I also did get around to sending the validation letter) Good Luck, if I can remember anything else that will help, I'll post, but if you get too panicky....address your post to Lady in Red or WhyChat and put Urgent, and hopefully you'll get their attention! They're experts in this area!!!
