I have a defaulted stud loan that is with a CA.....i sent a letter for validation (I thought the amt was wrong).......they sent me the copy of the agreement I signed when i got the loan and also a printout of payments from me (seized taxes) from march 2003 til august 2003 (they took my taxes filed jointly with my hubby who is the main wage earner here.....i only worked part time last year..now dont work at all....they also took that advance child tax credit they sent out in august), and thats all that came back for validation. For student loans do they still have to send an accounting of all payments made from the start? Should i send another letter. I just got the letter from them today and they are already calling me. They called 2x today. I told them i couldnt agree to their payment plan of $1041 a month (they said that was their only offer and its a fair one!)
I also told them i dont have any income and they said i had to use my husbands income for them to determine what i could pay per month. Why do i have to disclose his income? this is not his responsibility.....we live in massachusetts.
I went to the other site someone suggested and did get some good advice about an ombudsman......which i am going to pursue.....but i am just wondering about the validation.
thanks
