In the event that you left the account open. This is what would happen. They would file a motion for garnishment. This would go to the bank which would freeze the account for 20 or so days. This gives you time to go to the court and appeal the garnishment.

Of course, you would not have access to funds during this time.

Also, in Florida, the bank account garnishment is one shot only - not continuing- so they would have to keep going back to collect the full amount.

You really want to avoid this as some banks will not open an account for you if you have been garnished.
