you definately need to talk to the office of the ombudsman. It is probably better for you to work with the lender of your student loans (guaranteer). Tell the CA you refuse to work with them and will talk to the lender only. I think in MA you can send a cease and desist letter. I would consult some websites about collections.

It is in your best interest to get terms that are favorable to you, but also help you out in the long run. Student loans are not good things to mess with, and it is especially difficult to get rid of them, even in bankrupcty. (You basically need to proove that you are disabled and will never be able to work again in your life, or show some hardship that is equal to that)

The ombudsman's office will help you get things straigtened out, but I would continue to expect IRS garnishments from any future tax returns, and possible future wage garnishment.
