i got a summons by a lawyers group. i called them to make a settlement and they told me that they wont take my counter offer. the balance is now 1000 and i only charged 300. i offered 500. they said no. the funny thing is i called the court and they told me that the file number i gave them doesnt even match up to the ones they use. they dont have me on file or nothing. im wondering if this is a threat. i did have a man come to my door and serve me but it wasnt the police. i an willing to pay this but they wont agree on anything they told me i have to pay in full and thats it. i can make payments but they want 30 percent up front. what should i do. help. i never got anything in writing or nothing in the mail about this and just got summons. not even a phone call.
