Were you personally served or was the summons left with someone of legal age that accepted service? I have never heard of a summons just being dropped off in Missouri at the door, because the summons would be no good. I serve legal process in Missouri at various times and I would never leave a summons "at the door".

You may be able to make a written deal/agreement with the attorney representing the Creditors and keep this from ever going to court. Make sure its something you can live with. Don't over extend yourself just to make the attorney happy.

Don't bank on Missouri going with a 5 year SOL on Credit Card Debt. I agree with the 5 year, but Missouri attorney's and judge's don't.

As to wheather you should file bankruptcy, you will obviously have to decide that for yourself.
