Amsouth uses a couple of auto-dialers that update slowly and generally screw up. It's not really the collector's fault. The computer gives them a person to talk to, sometimes the same one another collector has just finished with. Ford Credit has the same problem.

If the calls are excessive, demand to be taken off the auto-dialer. You may have to get a higher-up to help you. You may have a baby sleeping or something, and the dialer is waking them. They WILL call you manually if you demand it enough..at least you don't get hung-up on. Also, Amsouth WILL continue to pester you till you pay, and WILL sue your butt if you don't. You may need to remind them that in most states where they operate, calling and hanging up is telephone harassment, which is a felony (at least here in TN)

As another poster said, pay them off as quickly as you can and get them out of your life.
