After 180 days the cards are 'charged off', accounts sold to collection scumbags. Never pay a collector anything. Ever.
Indeed try settling with Original Creditors, plenty of time left. Hey, you can give them 25% of something right now? Why not see what they'll accept? Better than 180% of nothing. Maybe 25 percent now, remainder totalling one third to half the amount owed within a year or two? Any others with thoughts on this? OC is always your best and only bet regarding settlement.
Collectors on the the other hand are to be identified, locked, engaged, bowdlerized.
