Latvija....you have nothing to worry about. A creditor may only tape a conversation with your consent or for training purposes only. Unless you've given full consent to tape your conversation, it's inadmissable in any court. In addition, you could sue them.

But I'm quite certain this was just an intimidation tactic on behalf of NCO Financial. What I suggest you do from now on...is tape every conversation yourself. This collection tactic is illegal and is strictly forbidden by the "FDCPA", Fair Debt Collection Practices Act...under "deceptive collection practices". If you can record them in any way shape or form threatening you...even stating that they're going to sue you without the ability or intent to do so, you've just earned yourself no less than roughly a few thousand dollars for the Violation of the FDCPA.

Get yourself a recorder...tape any and all future conversations with this company, trust me, you won't regret it.
