Please help us reestablish our credit

I have terrible credit from which started from about 18 years old. I am now 30 and need to fix it. What is the most efficient way to reestablish credit? Bankruptcy is def. an option. However, some of the charge offs are between 7 and 15 years old. I make decent money now and am raising a daughter by myself. If I could just start the process to getting better credit, where it is going in the right direction would be so crucial to our future. Can someone please help with some ideas?
