I promise you that things will get better. Everything happens for a reason. Sometimes you don't find out till a year or so later why something happened. There may be a better job in your future...you may decide to change careers and do something different. Circumstances can force you to make a change that you might now have made otherwise. I often work backstage in the theater- first thing that you learn is you just keep going- no matter what- if the scenery falls on you, keep going - someone misses a cue- keep going. Just keep moving, things will get better.
Right now, you have the opportunity to show your children that you can have a good time for a little bit of money. Look around and find events you can enjoy as a family for less money - parks, zoos, picnics- this time of year there are often free performances of christmas events.
Check around your community- there are many organizations that help families provide gifts for children in need. Don't be afraid to ask - those that have been fortunate this year are happy to share with those who have not. Good luck to you. Just keep going. One day soon this will all be a distant memory.
For now, schedule 30 minutes every day and worry about whatever you like. When that time is over, put it away until the next day.
