Get your FICO score. If it's below 700, start trying to get some credit with lieniet creditors (buy here, store credit cards, Sears, Penneys).

Don't apply blindly, get to know which CRA the creditor pulls and how your score rates. If all else fails, there are some secured credit cards (120% deposit) that report to all CRA as a regular trade line.
