Was the doctor under the insurance coverage on the day you had your services. If so, then the insurance covered. If not, then you will be liable for the cost.

It however sucks that patients are not informed of this when they agree to a medical procedure. I wish there was one way a patient can sue a hospital for failure to inform of actual costs that they might have to incur.
