Go to the California page and scroll to the bottom, there is a link to a Ca. lawyer, or find one near you from the NACA link on my website. The Ca. SOL for credit card debts is 4 years from the last payment to to the ORIGINAL CREDITOR. It is perfectly legal for a CC Company to sell their accounts to a collection agency. It is also legal to be sued for an unsecured debt. If a judgment is obtained you are subject to garnishment of your wages, bank accounts, liens against your home, and any other non exempt assets you may have. Here is a link to "Answering A Lawsuit" it is designed for an account that is past SOL, but you can adapt it to your own situation if you are within SOL.
