confused on time limit for validation request

from what i'm reading of FDCPA sec.809 is i have 30 days from first letter from ca to request validation or the ca can assume the debt is valid.
i have just received 3rd notice from ca and wish to dispute as i am just now learning of this process.
Am i too late to request dispute/validate/cease?
the accounts are 1 year from nonpayment and about 6 mos. with the ca's. i'm tryin to compose letters to these ca's and piece together info/statements gleaned
from all y'alls advices, but still wonder is it in vain.
