It doesn't sound like you have anything you can use yet. Because you sent in a second validation letter, the limited C&D allows them to respond to your query. I know this is frustrating for you, because you want to be done with this. They arn't going to sue you for this small of a debt. So I believe that you should just sit back and wait for them to violate the C&D that is still in place. Is this CA in your State or a different one? If different, check out the Secretary of State's web-site in your state for licensing by CA's. Don't give up, because I believe by the sound of their letters that they will send another one. Then you will have the leverage needed to zero out your debt with them for nothing.
