Debt Question?

Does the CC debt ever go away? Even after you send dispute letters and etc., I thought CC companies can continue to call and sell to other agencies. I have several cards showing charged off, last payment 2/02, every few months a different agency/CA calls trying to get payment. Now one summons from MBNA, still have a second MBNA account. Sent dispute letters, C&D letters and still phone calls almost daily. Is there an end to this? Should I try and contact the original creditors and offer settlements this late in the game? SOL is 3 yrs from last payment, what happens if you make a settlement? I know you can negotiate for closed account and removal in substitution for payment. Should I consider this or is this even a remote possibility now?
