First Select is the debt buying subsidiary of Providian Bank. They purchase charged off receivables from other credit cards such as Discover, Fleet, etc. then send out credit card style statements dunning the balance as well as adding their tradeline to your credit report. You need to find out what the original credit card was first and see if you may have had it. If it’s not yours, then somebody else’s account was placed on your report and you have to start the dispute process.
