Soft inquiries do not bump off hard inquiries. If this was the case, I would pull my CR a whole lot more, just to rid myself of hard inquiries and so would everyone else. 99.999% of the time, the only thing that removes a hard inquiry is time (2 years). Hard inquiries are a fact, and the CRA's know it, i.e., someone viewed your CR. CRA's just don't want to budge on this view and shouldn't, because this information is protected. I had two hard inquiries removed as part of a settlement agreement, however the CRA did not have to allow the removal. They are not obligated to remove a Hard Inquiry. It is even difficult, if not impossible, to have a hard inquiry removed, even if its part of I.D. theft.
