Settling the judgment is really not a good way to go about it and is something to be avoided at all costs.

I know that sounds silly on the face of it but the truth is that most judgments are null and void upon their face and can be challenged and vacated as void judgments. Only a very small percentage are valid.

Before you pay it and cement it on your credit report for the full 7 years you need to go to the
courthouse and get copies of all paperwork in the file and examine them for errors such as no proof of the debt, no affidavits, no judge's signature on the judgment, attorney's making or giving testimony and any one of the 23 possible errors that can render a judgment null and void upon it's
face. Most judgments carry multiple errors due to the sloppy work by attorneys.
