Your payments to them did not restart the SOL because you didn't re-affirm by your signature on any agreement. It doesn't sound to me as if you have any Written Agreement of any kind. If the Original Debt was defaulted on in 1997, then this is well past the SOL for your STATE. Generally the SOL starts from last payment made before charge-off. Why don't you consider sending Why Chats SOL letter, I just don't think you'll have to pay anything. You would even be dollars ahead if you had an attorney do everything for you.
