If a lawsuit has actually been filed against you, and you have been served with papers FROM THE COURT, with a docket #,then you need to file an answer.

My website has near the bottom of the page instructions on how to answer a lawsuit past SOL.

If you HAVE NOT been actually served, then you can send the SOL letter from my website.

You do NOT want to settle, aside from the fact that you are WAY beyond the legal SOL, any settlement will be reflected as a new entry on your credit reports and be dated from the settlement date for 7 more years. PLUS any "unpaid" amount will be sold to ANOTHER collection agency, who will put ANOTHER collection account on your reports.

In addition, since you will now be "tagged" as an easy victim, all sorts of old accounts, yours or anyone with a similar name or address will suddenly crop up on your credit reports.

I assume you DO have recent copies of your reports? Pa. allows 1 free report a year from each of the CRA's.

Plus you should Opt Out, a link is on my website.
