Here's my story. I was out of town for a couple of days and while I was gone the doorman left a message on machine saying someone had a package for me at the desk that he could not leave with the doorman. When I got back in town there was a sommons left under my units door. I ignored the summons(a big mistake) because I felt it could not have been properly served by leaving it under my door and to answer it the court would have charged me $140. (I am being sued for a time barred debt.) They did send me the copy in the mail but had not filled in any date of service.
Yesterday I receive a notice of motion in the mail that they are seeking a default judgment against me bacause I failed to appear. Attached to the motion is an affidavit from a process server saying original summons was served to "John Doe" at my address with a physical description. The address of service on the affidavit includes my unit number. I live alone.
