I suspect that she is actually beyond SOL on this debt, and perhaps on all of them, and does NOT need to file.

It looks to me, from what has preceded this lawsuit, that the debt has been kicking around in default for well over 2 years, and perhaps even past 3. If I am correct, she has a good defense in this case, and perhaps is actually (unknown to her) past legal on all her debts.

Someone normally doesn't go into a "credit repair" service when their accounts are current and up to date.
